While far from a secret, waterfowl hunting in Montana is an incredibly overlooked activity by many locals and non residents, whose thoughts about hunting in Big Sky Country are dominated by big game and upland pursuits. Montana’s diversity in waterfowl hunting is nearly unparalleled, with great big water, agricultural fields, and small water hunting options. Our goal for your trip is to put the hunter in the best possible scenario given conditions and bird patterns for success. While our liberal 7 duck/5 goose limit is only obtainable under the best scenarios, it is obtainable and hunters should expect good opportunities at both throughout their hunt. We primarily target mallards and greater Canada geese, however we can also encounter wigeon, gadwall, teal, goldeneyes, lesser Canadas and snow geese.
Unlike many other operations, our specialty is on small groups of hunters. We will not mix parties. Focusing on 1-2 guests per trip allows us to enjoy a quality driven trip, not one based on quantity. This allows us to build relationships and make memories for years to come. There is simply no better way to enjoy waterfowl hunting than taking turns on decoying birds with a good friend or relative.
We are constantly of the mindset that there is always a better mousetrap out there. To that end you can expect your guide to have the finest decoys and equipment available for the situation, often customizing that gear to our specific needs. Our goal when the shot is called is for the birds to be committed and finishing to the decoy spread. To that end, even though we are primarily chasing large Canada geese and mallards, we love shooting sub gauge guns. Bring out that 20 or 28 gauge and quality shells.
